- Grassmarket Hotel - Edinburgh - Scotland - UK and Eire
Single room was very small. Best thing about this hotel is the location- right next to the Royal Mile. Clean room. Staff good. Didn't eat at the hotel but there are plenty bars and restaurants around about it.
- Baba Sahin Apartments - Icmeler - Turkey
We found these appartments to be immaculate and very tastfully decorated and furnished, very fresh and clean. The pool was super, food excellent and the staff were so helpful, this was our first visit to Turkey and we were lucky to find this place, we shall be back next year. Highly recommended.
- Pyrgos Apartments - Malia - Crete
When i first arrived i was taken to the room were it had two rooms with two bedrooms in. Both rooms had a balcony with a great view and breeze. The appartment was very close to the market and the strip. The pool was always clean an cool and around the pool was clean also. I am that happy with the place and appartment i hope to book again next year, the people in and around the bar were helpful and nice to talk to.
- Paraiso/Patio Aparthotel Riu - Playa de los Pocillos - Lanzarote
I have read these reportsts for many years and will try and give an honest appraisal.
1. Hotel - In desperate need of renovation, the new part is pretty good but not what you expect from a RIU.
2. Food - Very good and reasonable choice, they seem to have an obsession with pork!
3. Location - Good, although could be located nearer the resort centre.
4. Out and About - The Mucky Duck pub out the back of the hotel and turn left 500 metres on the left hand side, very good pub.
5. Entertainment - appauling unless your German, staff however very friendly and helpful and childrens entertainers very good.
Positive - Very well kept grounds with plenty of beds available and plenty of pools.
Negative - Full of Germans, however they arent as rowdy as some brit yobs.
On the whole the hotel is good and would return.
- Oura Praia Aparthotel - Albufeira - Algarve
Having stayed in the CPO for the last 6 years was a little disappointed to be told we were in the Oura Praia but we a had very plesant surprise. The rooms were large are airy with a balcony covering both the lounge and bedroom, air conditioning, very large bathroom and bedroom with plenty of storage. The room was above the bars/cafes on the street but there was no noise at all after midnight. Staff very helpful giving advice on local bus travel. The hotel sticks by its policy of removing towels from sunbeds if they have been saved and not occupied, which gives everybody an equal chance.
Prices for food and drink around the pool are very reasonable and very good.
Cannot wait to return, fantastic holiday.
- Panorama Studios and Apartments - Lassi - Kefalonia
Room was fairly basic but clean and very spacious.Gardens are well tended - we were on gound floor and had a lovely olive & oak tree to give us shade. Complex was at the top of a steep hill as mentioned in brochure but we came home fitter than when we went and despite all the eating/drinking we lost weight as a result! A lot of people got taxis up the hill and I think they are reasonably priced. I had read that Lassi was a busy resort but we didn't find it so. All in all we had a very enjoyable time at Panorama - I think it works best for people who go off & do their own thing as there is no reception area or contact with owners. My partner did use the bar to watch Euro 2008 but it lacked any atmosphere.
- Holiday Inn Maingate East - Kissimmee - Florida - America
Travelled as a family of 4, 2 adults 2 kids. We were not looking to stay in Kissimmee specifically but got a fantastic deal from Direct Holidays to stay there on a room only basis for 2 weeks. The hotel was great and far exceeded our expectations. Newly refurbished, modern, clean, with helpful, friendly staff. Our room was comfortable and clean. Plenty of parking at the hotel and right across the road from Kissimmee Old Town with its bars, places to eat and entertainment. MacDonalds is right next door.
We were self catering and although there is a restaurant in the hotel, we ate out - there is such a huge selection of places to eat.
We hired a car and were only 10-15 minutes away from the Disney theme parks. The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool, kids pool and large jacuzzi which are all open until 11pm. Just what you need after a day at the parks !!
Stayed in I-Drive at a Best Western hotel 2 years ago but it wasn't a patch on the Holiday Inn Maingate East. Would definitely stay there again.
- Marios Studios & Apartments - Laganas - Zante
Just came back from this hotel and absolutely loved it!The staff were amazing especially the barman kostas!Our rooms were cleaned daily only problem being the maids who usually shouted very loudly and woke you up!The pool was lovely and the food served at the pool bar was gorgeous!!!A cheap supermarket opposite was really handy as it sold absolutely everything. The beach was'nt too far away (about a 5 min walk) and the main strip was even less so in a perfect location. We were so worried before we went because of all the bad reviews but seriously don't listen to them. There was 10 girls who went and we had no trouble at all and all staff were really nice and helpful!!We'd definitely advise anyone to stay at these apartments and will most likely be returning in summer 09!!!!!!
- Castell Sol Apartments - Arenal d en Castell - Menorca
Lovely, clean place. Generous accommodation, very well equipped (you could make a 3 course meal if you wanted!!!) Excellent swimming pool with separate pool 50cm for children. Towels only changed and no other maid service but very clean to start. Bit of a walk (up hill) to the beach but no more than 10 minutes. Beautiful place for children/families.
- Roda Beach Village - Roda - Corfu
Just arrived back from 10 nights at the roda beach village, at first sight we thought it was the wrong hotel for us but by the evening we had a complete different view! Everyone was so welcoming! There was a selection of food in the main restaurant and also a greek, chinese and italian restaurant! The hotel looked as if it was in the middle of no where but a 10minute walk down the beach and your in roda where there is a few shops, other restaurants and bars for those who like lively nights as the entertainment in the hotel finishs at 12! Both thomas cook and the hotels animation team were really nice and welcoming, they ran activities all day and did good entertainment in the evening which was a laugh!! We recommend this hotel and are looking forward to going back very shortly!!
